YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS

I acquired this vintage fiberglass Bogart figure on a trip to France recently. As a dealer, it's not something I would normally buy but I was feeling flush and thought he'd bring a bit of real Hollywood to some of the Hollywood Regency we sell at Old Coves in Deal.

In a creased cream tuxedo, black slacks and shoes he is Rick from Casablanca, albeit like me, missing a trailing cigarette in his fingers. This model, circa 1980's, is actually quite rare and records reveal these life-size Bogart figures selling at auction for between £1200 to £1800.

I am not sure where he came from originally; a nightclub, a film set, perhaps a themed American restaurant, but I think he's Pop Art, like the Warhol designed Blondie poster he occasionally gravitates to when he's not behind a Mid Century Danish drinks bar, or two.

Standing at 6'1, he's a little taller than the real Humphrey but comes single and is currently available at my gallery Old Coves on 71 Middle Street in Deal .
